Peace Corps Week
The last week of February or first week of March marks the nationally recognized Peace Corps Week. Boston Area Returned Peace Corps Volunteers celebrates this week by hosting its very own “Restaurant Week” whereby RPCVs gather at different ethnic restaurants each night of the week to recognize some of the regions where Volunteers served. It is an opportunity for the BARPCV community to gather, reminisce, network, enjoy great food and help the local economy. Many of the restaurant owners come from countries where RPCVs have served and have taken great pride in helping BARPCV celebrate service abroad and here.
In addition to enjoying the diversity of food the Boston area has to offer, RPCVs are encouraged to carry out their “third goal” to promote a better understanding of other people on the part of American people during Peace Corps Week. BARPCV offers assistance in providing speaking engagements and in participating in community service in local communities. If you are interested in helping to organize events, host a restaurant or if you have a suggestion about a good restaurant to try during Peace Corps Week, please contact events@barpcv.org and put Peace Corps Week in the subject line.
