A Taste of Africa Event: An evening in support of MicroLoan Foundation USA and Female Entrepreneurs
Microsoft New England Research and Development Center
1 Memorial Drive
On Dec 7th, 2012, the Leadership Council of the MicroLoan Foundation (MLF), USA is hosting “A Taste of Africa” at the Microsoft N.E.R.D. Center. It'll be an evening in support of MLF USA and our female entrepreneurs in sub-Saharan Africa.
MLF USA’s mission is to alleviate poverty, advance education and transform lives in Africa. Seeking to empower poor, underserved rural women to become self-sufficient through the provision of microloans, our organization has a 98% loan repayment rate because of our specialized business training and continued mentoring and support.
We give women a hand up, not a hand out. This event provides an amazing opportunity for people to learn about and support female entrepreneurs such as Edith. Edith is like so many rural African women, very poor - but still highly entrepreneurial, intelligent, and ambitious. In her remote community, Edith recognized that a lack of affordable and reliable local phone service could offer a promising opportunity to sell mobile phone cards.
