Elbert Hardeman

Elbert Hardeman served as a Small Business Volunteer in Morocco from 2004 – 2006.  Elbert worked in Tamslouht, Morocco, a small village outside of Marrakech, known for its pottery and textiles.  One of Elbert’s greatest moments of being a volunteer was working with a weaver named Abdelati Nejar.  Elbert worked closely with Abdelati to grow his business and reach new international markets. Elbert helped to prepare Abdelati for the New York International Gift Fair in August of 2005 where Abdelati was able to connect with a vendor from London who, to this day, Abdelati continues to do business with.   Elbert says that Peace Corps was the greatest challenged he ever faced and he loved every moment of it.

Today Elbert works at The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston as a fraud and business risk analyst and lives in Belmont MA with his wife Nichole Hardeman who is also a RPCV Morocco 2003-2005.  They both are active BARPCV members.   They have also been all-star members of the BARPCV softball team the last two years.  The newest challenge in Elbert’s life is the Boston Marathon. On April 16th Elbert will run the Marathon for a great nonprofit organization, The Boston Debate League (BDL).   The Boston Debate League (BDL) is a non-profit organization that works in partnership with the Boston Public Schools (BPS) to improve the academic achievement of students in Boston.

You can help support Elbert in his goal of overcoming his newest challenge, running 26.2 miles, by fundraising for his charity at http://www.razoo.com/story/Ehardeman and by registering to volunteer with BARPCV on the day of the marathon at Mile 23 here.

The obstacles these students overcome to do something many of us take for granted is astounding.
